I found a couple of older threads, but wanted to start something new, in case whm versions have introduced new features, or if there is new information -
The SMTP Banner does not match the reverse lookup issue -
I have exim set to send from the accounts dedicated IP.
I understand that it does a reverse dns lookup for the sending IP - (dedicated to the client, reverse dns = mail.domainname.com)
However the SMTP banner is the hostname of the machine. Does mean that for every dedicated IP on the server, I have to instead make the reverse dns entry match my host machine's hostname?
This doesnt sit well with us, when we don't want other folks doing netcraft (reverse) lookups on our client's IPs. With exim, is there no way to set the SMTP banner dynamically based on the sending domain? I know that's a weird question, but thought I might throw it out there.
