SMTP error messages: too many syntax or protocol errors

I see a lot of messages like this on the exim_mainlog. Why?
Can it produce any issues with firewall blocking the source IP?

Howdy,

It is probably a spammer with a misconfigured mailer script. Giving too many commands at SMTP time. Exim is really strict about SMTP transactions.
