SMTP Internal Error after 8.8.0 S74 update

    I have a couple users with different domains on the same server unable to send email after the the 8.8.0 S74 update.

    They are receiving ...

    Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC65) : 'Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA'

    They can receive email fine.

    I have set the accounts up on my system with OE which is what they are using as well and can send fine. I sent mail to
    other addresses of theirs to verify from those accounts.

    I have walked through the account setup with these clients and they are setup properly. These email accounts were working fine before the update.

    Restarted Exim
    Restarted imap
    Restarted bind

    I have run /scripts/mailperm
    /scripts/updatenow
    Restarted the server.
    Ran rebuild/fix mail dbs/boxes

    Still nothing. Help! :)

    I am having even more users reporting this issue now.

    Check /var/log/exim_mainlog. This is usually due to the spool directory being out of disk space.

    How about,

    2004-02-08 04:23:13 1ApHvb-0002nY-SO Spool file is locked (another process is handling this message)

    How can that be resolved?

    Ahh hah! It looks like the senders IP networks are listed on bl.spamcop.net and dnsbl.sorbs.net and are immediately being bounced.

    This would explain why I could send with their accounts but not them.

    Running /scripts/fixrelayd is temporally fixing it atm for me. It seems to be an issue that the client’s ip is not getting added into the /etc/relayhosts file.

    I will update if / when I get some information on it.

    I tried that myself to no avail. I ended up ultimately yanking out the exim rules for spam server listings.

    did you ever get it fixed permanatly?

    although that doesnt even fix it temporarly for me
