    all of a sudden smtp on port 25 on my server has stopped accepting connections.... any ideas? I enabled port 26 but would need 25 fixed...

    What errors are you encountering?

    You might want to try to telnet to your server on port 25 and see what response you get, as well as then taking a look in /var/log/messages to see if anything is logged as a result.

    If port 25 is still bound to exim and port 26 works, then it's most likely your ISP blocking the port.

    Use this port checker: http://www.mtgsy.net/dns/utilities.php
    It will tell you whether your port 25 is open remotely.

    My money's with Chirpy's suggestion though. Expect ISP's blocking port 25 to become more and more common. It's a no brainer big win for them - no more spam fighting, clearing out SORBS listings, or any of that. The smart ones will let it be user configurable, but the smaller ones will just block the lot.
