I am somewhat in the same boat. I have an old RAQ4 server that I am planning on running WHM/cPanel. I also used strongbolt to get centos installed on it, and did bluequartz as well.. Should I remove the bluequartz off before putting WHM/cPanel?

    Thanks

    Bill

Your post was originally in a thread about cPanel DNS Only, and I wanted to avoid confusion between that and full cPanel/WHM so I moved your post to a new thread.

When installing cPanel/WHM, it is recommended to have as little software installed as possible (only the development packages are necessary). You are welcome to re-evaluate installation of software such as BlueQuartz after cPanel/WHM is installed and you have verified cPanel/WHM is functioning.

However, as far as I understand, BlueQuartz performs some control panel functionality. If you have Apache or other server software on the server (Exim, PHP etc.), you should ensure such software is removed prior to installing cPanel/WHM as cPanel/WHM will install all the server software for you.

Also keep in mind that you will be able to control services such as Mail, DNS, Apache etc. via the WHM interface so you may not feel the need to have BlueQuartz after cPanel/WHM is running.

    Thanks for your time David,

I just used the strongbolt install. I'll redo the install and have it only do CentOS.

    Thanks again,

    Bill
