SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from... Start tag expected, '<' not found

For a long time I use SOAP to connect to my domain provider in the Netherlands. The script is provided by the provider and everything worked fine for a long time.
Since a few weeks all connections fail with the error:

An error occurred: SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: Couldn't load from 'https://...' : Start tag expected, '<' not found

(I removed the actual link).

The link does work from the browser. I have been in contact with the provider and he has no other users reporting issues. The issue seems related to my server.

SOAP, OpenSSL are set in EasyAPACHE and installed. OpenSSL 0.97 is also installed via Install an RPM.

What am I missing ?

CENTOS 5.9 x86_64
WHM 11.38.0 (build 16)
Apache 2.2.24
PHP 5.3.25

Hello

Do you have any firewall rules in place that could be blocking the connection? Have you tried an alternate script that uses SOAP to rule out this specific script as the cause of the problem? Did you make any recent changes before you noticed this problem?

Hi there:

- No firewall rules
- I have one other script which uses SOAP which gives the same problem. Both connect to a secure website
- I am not sure what changed when this started. I think it started with the update from 11.36 to 11.38, but it might be unrelated. The issue is that I use this script not on a daily bases, which makes it difficult to trace exactly what is changed just before the issue started

The issue is fixed. I ran Easyapache again and disabled curlwrappers. This fixed the issue. I found this suggestion online :
