Whenever I attempt to update Apache by putting in a version of PHP higher than the default, Apache bugs out and doesn't work, although the "Build Completes." I've also been trying to add in the GD Library, and that is why I'm in this whole mess in the first place, because I had already posessed PHP 5, but I wanted GD Library as well.

I just attempted another recompile and i had a long string of errors:

home/cpapachebuild/buildapache/php-4.4.1/main/php_config.h:2702: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault

The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.

    Go on, have a guess
It might help to know which OS and version you're using. Also, are you using a stock or custom kernel and stock or non-standard GCC and glibc version?
