    Greetings all ..

I have been following several threads with complaints about a weird issue in the recent routines WHM may be using to
compute users' disk quotas. The core of the question is that the quota usage reported by WHM mismatches the straightforward
computation performed by du -hs when applied to the respective user's home directory ...

This is quite a puzzle because WHM in some cases seems to be sensing a considerably higher disk quota usage against users whose /home directory is basically empty or several Mb smaller.

I have found (1) what is going on and (2) how to fix it.

I thought some of you might be interested to understand the glitch and to get a fix; if so, please PM me. It will be my pleasure to help you.

    Regards,

    Muhammad Naseer

Umm, why don't you post the solution here? Are you going to charge money for the information or something?

Why not just post the fix?

If you truely have a fix then "particular problem" should not matter.

Too many configurations to post solutions for each?

Does this makes any sense? We have many servers, some of them using plesk, some of them WHM.

No, its not like you think. We've worked with many customers and all of them are happy and satisfied. You may ask me their references if you PM me.

So you are planning on charging a fee to fix the problem?

Got it. I understand charging for installation services, or whatever, but this is the first time I have seen someone wanting to charge for fixing a problem. I'm pretty new here, so maybe I haven't seen enough posts, though. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, I just thought it was strange, and I couldn't figure out whether you were wanting to charge a fee or not. Now I know.

Casey, charging fees for fixing/support/installs is fairly normal. Look at what our company does. We have several cPanel clients that we do custom fixes for, day-to-day support for, and software/themes whatever installs.

Spamming the cpanel support board is in bad taste to say the least. This board was put here for users to offer support to each other not to spam and offer to tel someone a fix for a fee.

I hope Nick bans you from every posting here again.

To save others from having to pay you for the fix.

It is a linux bug of crossed UID's

Check the /etc/passwd file get the UID of the account then cd to root and run find -user userid
you should see the user name of the account reporting the bad quota and another account on the system simply chown or chgrp the files to the correct user and it will fix the problem.
