    Hi,

Yesterday I rebuilt my server after a hardware failure. Pretty much everything works as it should, with the exception that a few users are reporting login failures.

As a test I've tried to log in to webmail on those accounts using confirmed usernames and passwords - I can access the cpanel webmail page, but then cannot access Horde, roundcude and Squirrelmail all fail reporting invalid login details. Normal pop3 client access to these accounts fails in the same way with /var/messages just reporting "LOGIN FAILED".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Gary.

Resetting the password and even deleting the account, and recreating it again yields the same result. Confused :)

Hi - thanks for that link, I had already looked through that post.

/scripts/whoowns returns the user name I would expect to see.

and groups/owners look correct in /var/cpanel/userhomes.

    Hi,

I'm not sure why the passwords have changed, or need to be reset across so many accounts - but the repeated failed logins generate cPHulk entries. Logging in via whm seems to let you get some of the way, but not into the mail clients themselves. Clearing out cPHulk seems to resolve the issue.

I suspect this behaviour is by design rather than a fault and I've just not understood the mechanics.

Thanks for your help though, very much apprecaited.
