Some mail servers out there are using way too strict requirements. Take for example:

    Message 19pEWS-0005z2-8s is not frozen
    Connecting to XXXXXXX.com [xx.xx.xx.xx]:25 ... connected
    SMTP<< 220-freedom.imhosted.com ESMTP Exim 4.20 #1 Wed, 20 Aug 2003 14:10:39 -0400
220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,
    220 and/or bulk e-mail.
    SMTP>> EHLO XXX.XXXXX.XXX
    SMTP<< 250-freedom.imhosted.com Hello XXX.XXXXX.XXX [xx.xx.xx.xx]
    250-SIZE 52428800
    250-PIPELINING
    250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
    250-STARTTLS
    250 HELP
    SMTP>> STARTTLS
    SMTP<< 220 TLS go ahead
    SMTP>> EHLO XXXX.XXXX.XXXX
    SMTP<< 250-freedom.imhosted.com Hello XXX.XXXXXX.XXX [xx.xx.xx.xx]
    250-SIZE 52428800
    250-PIPELINING
    250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
    250 HELP
    SMTP>> MAIL FROM: SIZE=3444
    SMTP>> RCPT TO:
    SMTP>> DATA
    SMTP<< 250 OK
SMTP<< 451 Temporary local problem - please try later
SMTP<< 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA
    SMTP>> QUIT
    LOG: MAIN
== XXXX@XXXXXXX.com R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp defer (0): SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:: host XXXXXXX.com [xx.xx.xx.xx]: 451 Temporary local problem - please try later

    ========

Does anyone here recognize what is going on? So far only 4 recipients out of 1200 in our mailing list have had this "problem" with me.

I email them fine with my own e-mail, but when the mailing list is used.. this happens.

I've noted that in my case, it's prone to
    Code:
    whatever@AOL.COM
addresses. I'm curious if that's the case with others also!?!

I find that any email send to the account from outside the server fails with the following:

    SMTP>> RCPT TO:
    SMTP>> DATA
    SMTP<< 250 OK
SMTP<< 451 Temporary local problem - please try later
SMTP<< 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA
    SMTP>> QUIT

Mail sent from the server is delivered OK.

Must be something with th local DNS....

My problem was with the resolv.conf

Not sure why it was overwritten, but it again pointed to darkorb.net.

Fixed that, restarted bind and is OK now
