Hi,

I'm configuring backups with WHM/cPanel's system and I need your help for the last settings:

1- Is safe use the directory "/backup" for do the backups?. If any client's web have malware and the system copy this files to "/backup" for create the backups can broke the server?.

2- The default values are corrects in this inputs?:

Maximum Destination Backup Timeout = 7200
Maximum Backup Restoration Timeout = 21600

Or can I have any problem with this default configuration?. I have 250 cPanel accounts in this server.

3- Have some use enable "Back up Bandwidth Data"?. Can I need the Bandwidth Data for something?.

Thank you very much. Have a nice day.

Hey there!

1 - Normal users would not have access to /backup by default as that is typically root:root ownership with 711 permissions.
2 - Those values should be fine and would only need to be adjusted if you start having issues, which is unlikely if you are using a local disk for backups.
3 - That is completely up to you. If you want to include the bandwidth data in the backups for the users you can, but only if that's something your users take advantage of. For most accounts it doesn't take up very much space, unless the account is using a large amount of bandwidth.
