Hello,

I have this strange which is in subject line.

I am trying to add the addon domain and getting the error.
"Sorry, but I don't think a domin name less than six characters is valid."

Is there any solution to fix this issue.

Thanks

Out of interest, what is the domain name you are trying to add? .com/.net/.org/.biz domains can't be less than 6 characters (as they have a minimum of 2 letters before the extension) and I can only think of "bl.uk" which is a valid domain less than 6 characters (and that's the only domain name that I can think of which is 5 characters or less: and that's a "one-off" domain - most .uk domains are in the format .co.uk/.me.uk/.gov.uk etc - with nic.uk being another "special case", but that's 6 characters).

Hi Richy,

did you find any solution except adding it manually ?

Please update me if you find any solution for this.

Thanks
Steve.

There are some known bugs in the "Add-On Domain" functions that have
been around for a long, long time and still uncorrected ....

Namely, Add-On domains require a minimum length and will not allow
you to add a domain that begins with a numeric digit even though
that is perfectly valid and used by many domains now.

You have 2 options to get around this problem ---

1. Alter the logic code for Cpanel for add-on domains so the checks are
not performed against the domain name. (1 file to edit - easy)

2. Setup the domain as a regular account instead of an add-on domain.
The extra checks performed on "add-on" domains are not performed
when setting up the same domain on it's own hosting account.

Another weird domain

There is another domain that is tiny - x.com. This was the original domain of the company x.com that created Paypal. When eBay bought them out they kept the domain still active. I reckon it's worth a small fortune now.
