So how long does the challenge password need to be?

Right now, the one I am trying to use is 36 characters long and I'm still being told it's too short... am I supposed to write a mini-novel or something?

"Sorry the challenge phrase is too short. Please try again."

    ANYONE??

I just created one that was 128 characters long and it was rejected for being "too short."

If you can provide more detail, like what you are trying to do, you may get help faster.

In my WHM, there is nothing about a challenge password under the SSL section.

    Same problem....

    I'm having the SAME problem....

I'm choosing, "Purchase & Install SSL Certificate". I fill in EVERYTHING and choose a 10 alpha-numeric challange password, then hit "Continue".

    I then get this message:

I submitted a help ticket using WHM, I got a reply asking for my Root password. I gave it to them within a short period, but now I've been waiting forever!

    Please HELP....

    same problem here.

Did you get a resolution to this yet? I'm about ready to head to ev1servers.net to buy my ssl cert from them, but I wanted to try doing it through WHM first.

    Nope, not resolved.

I'm getting the round around with Cpanel I think.

Maybe it's beyond their ability to fix :(

    Never know.

I have confidence in the cPanel guys. bdraco should be able to solve this problem if he looks at it. I am willing to bet it is probably just a simple coding problem.

    well....

it looks like this error statement is compiled in whostmgr2. Which means that even if they figure the error and fix it, we will not see it working until we load the newest edge release.

I went ahead and ordered directly with comodo (via www.instantssl.com). Ev1servers used to have a nice "phone authorization" feature, but it doesn't appear to be an option anymore, and the price is the same as when you buy it directly anyway.

It took less than 24 hours for Comodo to approve my cert and send it along.

I'm sure they will, I was just challanging them :)

I hope they fix it soon, as my clients will be wanting them too.
I'll go directly through comodo I was looking at their site the other day, and should have just went direct. I guess It will be just a tad bit more work. Nothing really I suppose.

The Comodo certificate seemed to work great. Got it fast and relatively easily.

The only strange part of the install was the intermediate certificate. When they emailed me my site's ssl certificate, they also included the Comodo intermediate certifcate.

Until I edited the httpd.conf file to show the CA file, my location was giving and SSL cert error. Comodo includes instructions on how to edit the httpd.conf for the correct settings when they email your cert.

    http://www.instantssl.com/ssl-certificate-support/cert_installation/ssl-certificate-openssl.html

    works just fine now.

Has the fix been released yet. I have WHM 8.8.0 cPanel 8.8.0-R5 RedHat 9 - WHM X v2.1.2. This is the error message I get when I try to purchase and install SSL certificate.

Your key and csr are below, please keep them in a safe place in case you need them again. When you have saved them, please click the continue button. If the csr is missing, please press the back button and verify you have filled in the form correctly, then try again.

**There is a continue button here**

Sorry the challenge phrase is too short. Please try again.

    Any assistance would be great.
    Rick

    Finally fixed...

I finally heard back from them:

    Hello,

The problem with creating/purchasing an SSL certificate via WHM
should be fixed in the latest EDGE build. Let me know if you are
still having trouble with it after updating.

I have not upgraded yet, as I JUST NOW got that response. Thought I'd post it here first.

Post results here, if it works for you, or does not. I will probably not do this until tomorrow.

    what about NO challenge password?

Using WHM's interface, is there any way to generate a certificate with NO challenge password whatsoever? I don't want to be prompted for passwords every time we start up apache.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks
