Everythign has been fine, but the last few days Spam Assasin seems to be letting through a LOT of spam that was virtually non-existant last week.

So either something has gone wrong in my server or the spammers have figured out a way to get past it.

Anyone know? I do not see any errors in my end-user control panels. Is there a way to test to make sure spam assasin is actually running on my server?

    Thanks!
    Bob

    Initiate CPAN session:
    # perl -MCPAN -e shell

    Force reinstall of latest SpamAssassin:
    cpan> force install Mail::SpamAssassin

You should also restart exim (and consequently spamd):
    # /scripts/restartsrv exim

Is SpamAssassin adding headers to your e-mails?

    No, no header re-writes

    What does:
    ps -e | grep spamd

return? (to check if spamassassin is running). Also double check all your WHM settings to make sure spamassassin is set up to be running.

There are settings in WHM as well as per domain cpanel setting.

    WHM SA settings:

Server Setup > Tweak Settings : Make sure SpamAssassin is checked
Service Config > Service Manager : make sure spamd is checked

Reboot if able and let me know whats happening.

I've had the same issue the past couple of days. I do rewrite the headers.

    ps -e | grep spamd : shows
    26808 ? 00:00:00 spamd
    26813 ? 00:00:00 spamd
    26814 ? 00:00:18 spamd
    25361 ? 00:00:27 spamd
    31198 ? 00:00:40 spamd
    14896 ? 00:00:13 spamd

My WHM settings do show the items checked in the previous post.

SpamAssassin stopped working about a month ago on my server. I tried running this but unfortunately, it didn't work:

    Code:
    Initiate CPAN session:
    # perl -MCPAN -e shell

    Force reinstall of latest SpamAssassin:
    cpan> force install Mail::SpamAssassin

You should also restart exim (and consequently spamd):
    # /scripts/restartsrv exim
When running this "ps -e | grep spamd" nothing appears. Does anybody have any idea why it's not working and what needs to be done to get it running again?

    Do :
    /sbin/service/exim restart

and make sure spamd is being started up.

Then do ps -e | grep spam

That will tell you if it is running.

Before you do that I suggest you open up a new window and do:

    tail -f /var/log/maillog

Look at what it says when it is started up. If spamd is not running then obviously it is failing somewhere in the startup process. Getting it running is the first step.

I ran this ps -e | grep spam and nothing came up. I also checked the log file while restarting Exim and it didn't say anything about SpamAssassin. Do you have any ideas what else to try?
