    I'm a little confused as to why, but I'm seeing backscatter from spam on a box we manage. We have verify recipient in the smtp acl, and the default is set to :fail:, yet I'm still seeing a buildup of could not be delivered emails from all around with names like AJHGSFDLJ@ for the domain. Anyone else seeing this, or aware of changes in Exim config with 11 that might cause this? Thanks in advance!

    We were seeing the same thing for the domains we're secondary mx for (/etc/secondarymx) we've modified our ACL and added the olive coloured text, spammer are pretty much skipping the primary servers if a secondary exisits; all this does is calls the primary and checks the recipient.

    If the primary is up it will let us know if the user is valid, if its down we will accept the mail. This has gotten ride of the trapped bounces in our mail q.

    accept domains = +relay_domains
    endpass
    verify = recipient/callout=60s,defer_ok
