Seriously, my personal e-mail has been started to get flooded with junk e-mail, and I know how to share and use it, I don't post it anywhere or anything. SpamAssasin is working but giving really obvious spam e-mails a small rating. Is there a way to improve or another better software?

You can search for S.A. customization, S.A. would not be of much help without proper configuration to suit your requirement.

and also check have you tried enabling RBL filters like zen using exim configuration editor.

Yeah, I've checked that stuff. I can't find anything useful to improve SA... I've already checked the configs and make sure the RBL are running etc.

lookup configservers mailscanner tutorial or asspx/assp deluxe.

I've tried them all in the past i quite liked ASSP but since most of my users dont bother with the email I never reinstalled it when i moved servers

Any other decent suggestions? It's my own server and getting a lot of really annoying spam. I would like to be able to get rid of all this randomness.

    Hello,

If you just update the predefined rules for SA you can have some very good results from it. You can pick up the rules according to the type of SPAMS your server receive. Rules can be found at:

    http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules

Also SA will not perform to its best unless you train it to recognize Spams, however it can never be 100% accurate.. since it is an open source and spammers also have all the access to the software to easily bypass it.

I've been teaching over 200+ spam and 400+ ham to spamassasin. I keep getting similar spam e-mails with 0 score. Some 1.2 some 2.6, it sucks. It's really bad. Some better solution should be implemented.

Cpanel should implement other anti-spam solutions

    Greetings,

I was using SpamAssassin until mid this year when I started to get a new wave of spam, based on small emails with just a link.

SA was totally ineffective against this and I decided to start looking for another solution.

In this forum I found ASSP (it's a free software and some guy is providing support, so I decided to go for his support).

It's a kickass software, very versatile, with spambox options, RLB, and several options to kick those spammers of your server. It's much smarter than SA, a lot more agressive (or not, if you want), and provides a lot of control to the server administrator and some to the domain user.

Not perfect, of course, and I found some minor problems but I won't leave for SA again.

So, I think Cpanel should integrate this software into it's WHM, out of the box. Spam is a serious issue for everybody's client's and Cpanel should have this in consideration and provide for the best possible tools in spam fighting.

If not ASSP, some other out of the box solution other than SA.

    Best regards
    Daniel Santos

    Nice choise!:)

If there's anything I can help, just let me know.

I went for the paid version of the script. Some guy did that and it's pretty ok. Easy installation, good documentation and he answers here in the forum or by mail.

Didn't try the free version because I didn't want to waste time and because the license is cheap.

If you try the free version and think it was easy to install, please give some feedback here.

    Best regards

Yep, get tons of only links with a little text e-mails. Looks like I'll switch to ASSP.

ASSP is also disappointing. Spam e-mails still get through. It's working and has been installed correctly. Learning doesn't do much either.

    I love it!

ASSP takes a few days to build up to build up a spam database. Also important to use the assp-spam / assp-notspam email addresses to report spam in the first learning week.

Mat-d-rat is right. Be pacient and work with ASSP. Go to the spam and not spam options in WHM and help it in the process of auto-learning.

By the way, you went for the free or paid script?

I'm using ASSP and it's very good. Some spam always get by the filters but nothing to worry.

best regards and best of luck.

I'll go ahead and do that. It's just after switching I kept getting like 6 - 8 spam e-mails per day.

Lucas, 6 to 8 emails per day isn't bad at all. No spam software is perfect.

In April, with SpamAssassin, I was getting hundreds of mails per day. Hundreds.
    Now, I don't get more that 10.

    best regards

I use spamassassin with raised bayes scores as well as all the RBL lists enabled on the SMTP level. I've also set it to delete emails with a score of 10 or higher. Finally, i've banned China and Taiwan completely.

    I get 1 or 2 spam emails a month... :D

    PS:
first of all, none of my clients have any contacts with those countries (i would have banned Russia as well, but some people need it), i also tested spam scores for 7 months to make sure deleting emails with score 10 wouldn't cause problems. In practice i've never seen a real email with a score of 6 or more.

    Greetings Sehh,

I have to be more conservative. Some clients have business in China :(

I'm managing new domains, almost on a daily basis so, as ASSP works with a learning process to whitelist addresses, I need to have the configs on a conservative level.

It's best to recieve some more junk than to loose a good business oportunitty.

    best wishes
    daniel
