    Hi,

A client is getting hammered by emails from robot submissions via online contact form.

We have set up numerous SpamAssassin rules and filters but they still come.

    Does SpamAssassin not filter these?

    if not, any smart workarounds?

I know we could add a spam robot validation but client doesn't want this - most contacts will be from elderly people, poor eyesight etc.

    Thanks.

    Will.

Is the contact form on the same server as the email account receiving the submissions?

    Thanks Vanessa.

Yes, it is. It's on the same CPanel account.

That...would sort of explain it. Do you see in the mail logs that SpamAssassin is even scoring the mail? If it's sent within the same account, I believe it's automatically whitelisted. It would seem that perhaps that a captcha is indeed the best way to battle this. It doesn't have to be a hard one, for instance:

Old people may not be able to see well, but I'm pretty sure they can add :)

    Thanks, Vanessa.

There's no SpamAssassin lines in the email headers, so I assume its not?

It is possible to "unwhitelist" them and have SA process them instead?

    Vanessa (or anyone)

If we created a new mailbox on that CPanel account and forward from the web form into that and then set-up SA rules on that mailbox, would that avoid the SA whitelist issue above?

    Will.
