We have a FreeBSD server that has recently begun showing a high load average. When I run top on the server it seems that a perl5.8.4 process is using most of the CPU. I believe this process is a SpamAssassin process. I checked the PID of that process in /proc and it seems to show a spamd process. I am running cPanel 10.2.0-S83 and SpamAssassin is version 3.0.3. FreeBSD is version 4.9. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to resolve it?

    Thanks

I have the same problem here. I'm running also Freebsd version 4.9 and WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-C112.

Did anyone find the cause and a solution?

    Thanks

Same issue here SPAMD is a disaster on FreeBSD, when we disable it load improves. We've also noticed spamd crashes every few days and restart by itself. We're also suspecting spamd in sudden server reboots, but that remains to be traced.
