As a last ressort we now switch to the external ftp command '/usr/bin/ftp'
to get '/home/.cpan/sources/authors/id/cPCPAN/J/JM/JMASON/Mail-SpamAssassin-3.1.8.tar.gz.tmp15048'.

Doing so often leads to problems that are hard to diagnose.

If you're victim of such problems, please consider unsetting the ftp
config variable with

    o conf ftp ""
    o conf commit

Issuing "/usr/bin/ftp -n"

OK, fixed it. Open up /home/.cpcpan/modules.versions and remove the Mail::SpamAssassin line, or change it to 3.1.7.

I had the same problem.

OK, fixed it. Open up /home/.cpcpan/modules.versions and remove the Mail::SpamAssassin line, or change it to 3.1.7.
Just so I am clear, why would one change the line to read "3.1.7" when there is a 3.2.0 version at the repository?

This is what my report said last night,
cPCPAN: Module holdback (3.002000 held back to 3.1.8)
Running get for module 'Mail::SpamAssassin'
Fetching with LWP:
http://ftp.kfki.hu/packages/perl/CPAN/authors/id/J/JM/JMASON/Mail-SpamAssassin-3.1.8.tar.gz
LWP failed with code[404] message[Not Found]
It was able to get 3.1.8 from a different location
Running get for module 'Mail::SpamAssassin'
Fetching with LWP:
http://69.72.164.152/pub/CPAN/authors/id/cPCPAN/J/JM/JMASON/Mail-SpamAssassin-3.1.8.tar.gz
CPAN: Digest::SHA loaded ok (v5.44)
Fetching with LWP:
http://69.72.164.152/pub/CPAN/authors/id/cPCPAN/J/JM/JMASON/CHECKSUMS
Checksum for /home/.cpan/sources/authors/id/cPCPAN/J/JM/JMASON/Mail-SpamAssassin-3.1.8.tar.gz ok

same problem here. Im using cpanel v10 and spamassasin 3.2.0. And was trying to update to 3.1.8. I idad what timdorr said
Edited /home/.cpcpan/modules.versions and changed Mail::SpamAssassin line to 3.2.0.

This problem appeared when I updated perl to 5.8.7 to 5.8.8.

Also I have this errors when backups run at night:

Can't locate Template.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /scripts /usr/local/cpanel /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.7 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /scripts/cPScript/Template.pm line 10.

Since 3.1.8 isn't on cpan it has to try all the mirrors first, then fall back to cPanel mirrors.

This is safe to ignore.

in EDGE,CURRENT,RELEASE the error is suppressed, however since STABLE has much stricter QA times, the code that suppresses the error isn't in there yet. However since the error is superfluous, you can just ignore it as it will eventually connect to one of our mirrors and get it.

OK this is safe to ignore.

But has anyone any ideas as to why SA 3.2.0 is being held back to 3.1.8?

SA 3.2.0 had been running fine on our systems for a while now.
