    I'm having trouble getting spamd to run, how should I configure it for optimum performance?

    Did you have it running before? I just made updates to a redhat box, and spamd would constantly be restarting..... anyone else see this?

    was working before today, then just kinda stopped. spamd says 'failed' in service status, but a 'ps x' shows its running. it is not evaluating any e-mails, as i see none of its headers, nor is it doing any subject rewriting, so i don think its running right. i get no errors when trying to '/etc/init.d/spamassassin restart' it says that it stopped and started just fine. now if i do '/etc/init.d/exim restart' it says that stopping exim failed. and then antirelayd and spamd are stopped fine and all 3 are started 'ok' and pop3 and smtp seem to be working, just not spamd. any word on this?

    thanks

    Have you guys tried re-installing spam assasin yet? This seemed to work for me on two of our machines after upgrading cpanel to 9.9.9

    /scripts/perlinstaller --force Mail::SpamAssassin
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/exim restart
    /scripts/restartsrv spamd

    Should take care of the problem.

    new problem

    I 've reinstalled as you said, when a I start spamd I receive this:

    The -a option has been removed. Please look at the use_auto_whi
    telist config option instead

    Can I remove the -a option? Is it safe?

    Thanks a lot.

    No problem. Glad you guys were able to get everything working. There have been a lot of problems with this new version of spam assassin, so luckily re-installing it fixes it in most cases.

    Damion
