Have one server that I can not get spamd to start on, have gone through everything, and can not find a reason.

While trying some of the fixes came accross a strange one, that I have not seen before.
Note the out of memory, the server is not out of memory, did a reboot just for good measure same error. This happens when I try to do any of the updates, for spamd, or perl.

    Any ideas.

    root@hosting [~]# /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate
    Spamassassin Update Failed, reinstalling!
    Testing connection speed...(this could take a while)....Done
    Three usable mirrors located
    Mirror Check passed for cpan.erlbaum.net
    CPAN: Storable loaded ok
    Going to read /home/.cpan/Metadata
    Out of memory!

    Thanks Jim

that out of memory error happened to me when i coded a loop and made it endless. so i'd file a bugzilla report instead.

    Go on, have a guess
When you have problems running perlinstaller it is usually a good idea to do the following and the try again:

    rm -Rf /home/.cpan
    rm -Rf /root/.cpcpan
    rm -Rf /root/.cpan

Be careful how you type those in ;)

Thanks a million Chirpy, you indeed know your cpanel stuff, that took care of the problem.
