Spamd is set default by cpanel to max 5 children. I wounder if increasing this to maybe 10 or 20 will create a load problem. When cpanel boxes gets a lot of email in, servers are raising there load pretty much. Funny that some emails shuld make the servers "jump".

I am thinking that this actualy can be a result of a lot of emails cuing up waiting for spamd to check - and that increasing the nbo of childs will minimie load - not increase it?

    Anyone tryed this?

    Go on, have a guess
Raising it above 5 could well lock up your server, unless you have a lot of under-utilised memory. Using the spamd daemon can be a real memory hog, it's one of the main failings of the method that cPanel uses to scan for spam.
