I have a spammer on my server, and what I have found is that they have files in tmp which are using sendmail to send the spam.

I believe the files are getting there from an insecure script. Is there a way to track down what script is doing this? How can I find where they are gaining access to the server from?

Each time I do, the users on the server complain that some scripts will not work. I would love to run it if I could find a way that allows the users scripts to work.

you MUST secure TMP folder. If the users have problems with some scripts then it's a problem you have to look into and try to help them solve it. They might be running something that should not be done in the first place. There should be no compromise on insecure TMP folder.
