Having problem with hotmail rejecting emails from our cpanel/whm server. Checking SPF records to troubleshoot the issues comes this question on my mind. I've seen the same question posted here as old as 3 years but no answer. Do i need to add SPF records to server hostname?

Regards,

SPF is a verification process.
The receiving server (ie Hotmail), will check your SPF records to see if your domain is authorised to send emails.
I guess it's quite possible that if you don't have any SPF records, then Hotmail may block you.
SPF would certainly be good practice.
If you log in to Cpanel for that domain, you should be able to enable SPF from there which will add the correct DNS entries.
