    MAYDAY! MAYDAY!

I submitted the following to EV1 for support - wish me luck...

Upgraded cPanel to 8.0.0R5 to correct problem with new email accounts:

    http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19696
(I had STABLE only, upgraded to this RELEASE only to fix this one problem)

New Problems are along the lines of:
    http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14714
(I, too could see accounts in modify accounts but not in list accounts)

However running upcp again caused permission problems along the lines of:
    http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19709

to the point that even the root user has been erased?

SSH is down, and I'm locked out of WHM.

I'd submit a ticket to cPanel, but they wouldn't be able to do anything I don't believe without physical access...

Files still exist but the users have been corrupted by the upgrade. All I'm asking for is to get back in so I can get it running again. If I hadn't lost root access, I wouldn't submit this ticket.

EV1 will be able to console into your box and help re-enable your login.

    HOW would they do that?

Now that WHM/cPanel deleted 'root', I got this back:

    2/2/04 9:18:33 PM
    Sending ticket to Datacenter invesitigation.
    2/2/04 10:47:00 PM
    investigating further.

root user has been erased, we are unable to repair the server and it will need a restore.

I think I found how to recover and I've sent it to EV1 support:

    should get you in

    just copy

    Got this response:

This goes beyond our scope of support.

    Ordering a restore:

log into the members website, select Services from the members links section and
click on the link Click Here to Add Services. Scroll down to the System Restore
section and select the appropriate option. include in the notes that you want to
have the original drive installed as a second drive for 48 hours

DAMN DAMN DAMN... They can't copy a flippin text file?
