SQL error on new signups!

Hi, just installed WHM/CPANEL ona server, everything seemed to go okay, but now when I setup new accounts on whm I get this error toward the bottom of the account creation screen (results)
ndc: connect failed: connection refused
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)
/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)'
ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)

I set my root mysql password during the install, and the service is up and running. I can't figure it out..please help!

thanks I did that, and that fixed the mysql error, but I still get the error:

ndc: connect failed

Any ideas on that one?
