Ssh and kernel version

Hi,
there's a way to see, using ssh, when a new kernel version is avaible?

Which is the command? up2date -l ?

If i type

uname -r

i know the kernel version that's running on my serve

but i would want to know in which way i can to know, using ssh, if there's a new version avaible. I can't find anything :-(
