I am rather stumped on this one.

I just installed cPanel on to a new box running fedora.

When I try and login via SSH the client connects to the server, authenticates and then immediately closes the client.

I turned on the PermitRootLogin and was able to ssh in to the box using root.

What is the problem... I checked the settings in cPanel and the user(s) that I am trying to connect with are allowed access to normal ssh (/bin/bash)

    Go on, have a guess
Are there any error messages in /var/log/messages when they try and connect?

You could also (after logging in as root and NOT logging out) stop the sshd daemon and run it up in debug non-forking mode:

    sshd -d -D

Then try and connect using a new session into a user account and check for errors.

Also, are you able to su to the users account from root without errors?

I figured it out, there was a couple bad lines in /etc/ssh/sshd_config

    Thanks though.
