    Hi everyone:

    I'm having a problem installing a certificate.

A client of mine needs a certificate installed. I used to be able to do this with no problem but i'm having an issue with the key.

He sent me the certificate and I went into WHM to install it and it says &Key is not found.& I thought the key was sent with the certificate but he said it's in my server. But how do I get it?

If anyone can take just a moment to tell me what I'm supposed to do, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Key is generated with certificate request . So who was generating request he has a key ;)

Usually when you generate request key and certificate requests are sen to server contact address.

Did you try to click on &Fetch the key& button in WHM during access to &Install certificate& form (just in case that certificate was already installed on server and this is renewal)?

    Thanks for replying!

Well he E-mailed me the certificate. It's a new Domain so it's not installed on my server yet.

I tried the &fetch& but it said &No Key was found.&

    What should I do?

So he has the key. It was generated together with certificate request.

Was the certificate previously installed on another server? Basically, where ever the CSR to order that cert was generated is where the Private Key is. If it was generated by his previous host, then they should have it. If you didn't generate the CSR for that cert, then there is nothing that you can do, because you won't have the key.

Ok. I'll ask him and see if he had it from another host.

    Thanks for your help!
