I need to stop chkservd and mysqld to move the mysqld db directory to a new partition, but when I try to do this the files aren't found.

For example, I get the error:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld: No such file or directory

This worked not long ago so something has changed? How can I stop these services now?

    Thanks
