Hi,

It was recently suggested to me that with the volume of viruses employing spoof addresses, that I stop my mailscanner sending the warning to the sender, when it receives a virus.

Any thoughts on this?

And is there an easy way to do it?

Cheers

In /usr/mailscanner/etc/MailScanner.conf, find the lines like below and set Notify Sender=no

# Do you want to notify the people who sent you messages containing
# viruses or badly-named filenames?
# This can also be the filename of a ruleset.
Notify Senders = no

It was a different file location, but I found it!

Many thanks! It should also reduce my mail queue!

Yeah -- I did the same when I saw that my queue was filling up with reject notices to non-existant addresses used by virus senders.

And the legitimate addresses usually weren't the senders anyway.
