Hi all,

I was referred here by my host as they don't seem to be able to help me (however are fully cooperating to resolve the issue).

I have a site hosted for a client (which in this case is a friend) who seems to have something causing huge bandwidth issues. Over the past 5 months their site (which actually is only used for email - a blank page is the only thing uploaded) has been using 35-45gb.

I've just jumped on cPanel to see if I can resolve the issue to find the following bizarre results:

I have taken a screenshot of their cPanel logs for the 1st Feb located here - http://i.imm.io/fS3P.jpeg

It seems to be a constant connection with intermittent periods of no activity.

Can anyone help resolve this people, or even identify where it could be coming from?

Many thanks,

Cyberoonie

Hello,

Perhaps you can ( or your root admin ) can look into /var/log/maillog for "pop3-login" for the corresponding domain. Then check how often it connects from which IP / which email account. It can cause heavy benadwidth if the domain has plenty of email accounts which receive heavy emails with attachments. Also if you have users with panic email clients, it will cause such issues ( from my experience at least ).

Thank you,
Nibin.

As of yet I have been unable to identify anything.

As I understand, one user is sending and receiving via hotmail, the other via gmail.

These are then pushed to all other devices such as phones removing the extra connection element.

Anyone had any problems with hotmail or gmail before using a large amount of bandwidth?

There are only 2 users, neither of which send more than around 100 emails a month, and receive ~8 a day.

Thanks
