    Hello,

I'm trying to move my website. And temporarily, i'll be using my new server's IP address. (until DNS are beeing propegated)

my root dir of my new IP address is ok. However, when i'm trying to access a directory on the IP address (for instance http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx/whatever) it redirects me to the URL that the ip is hosted (that goes to the old server, since the propegation hasn't been completed)

    Any ideas? :)

    Thanks,
    Alex

I really don't follow can you clarify this a bit?

Your root directory of the IP address? What is a root directory of IP address?

Please give more examples of what your trying to do with fake names or number if necessary.

    Ok here's the situation

I have transfered my website from my old server (Plesk) to the new one (cPanel).

The website is now hosted on the new cPanel server, on a dedicated IP.

    So far so good.

I just submited the DNS hostname changes to the new IP and it need 1-2days to be completed.

    ------

On the new server, the site is up and running when you visit it (http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx).

However, when you go to a directory (http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx/whateverdirectory) it will REDIRECT you to the URL (http://myurl.com/whateverdirectory) instead of going to the IP (http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx/whateverdirectory)

The URL is pointed to OLD server (the propegation hasn't been completed)

Do you have URL forwarding setup? Do all the dns records on the new server reflect the new IP?

    Nope, no url forwarding.

Yes, all DNS records point to the new IP.

    Thanks

Well that is obvious... When you give the IP address, DNS does not come in the picture.. and it is easy for apache to find the server who has that IP on it. And when the apache reaches the server with Cpanel the IP is either replaced with the hostname(shared IP) or the domain name(dediacted IP).

So it does not matter if the DNS is propagated or not when you use the IP, it is the server that makes the changes.
