    This is what I get when running "strings filename" from shell:

    strings: error while loading shared libraries: libbfd-2.17.50.0.6-5.el5.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    Any idea what this could be?

    Working fine here on the latest EDGE on CentOS release 4.6 (Final) -

    Code:
    # strings /usr/local/cpanel/version
    11.23.1-EDGE_24891

    # ldd /usr/bin/strings
            [b]libbfd-2.15.92.0.2.so => /usr/lib/libbfd-2.15.92.0.2.so (0x00111000)[/b]
            libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00dd9000)
            libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x00b09000)
            /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00c97000)

    # rpm -qf /usr/lib/libbfd-2.15.92.0.2.so
    binutils-2.15.92.0.2-24

    # rpm -V binutils
    #

    Maybe try "yum update binutils", but I'd first check to make sure you haven't been rooted or anything.
