Sub-Domains and E-mail

Perhaps you guys can shed some light on this for me. One of our clients recently had all of his e-mail accounts just disappear. I still don't know what happened to them :( however, I'm trying to get this guys mail back up and running.

The client informed me that he is unable to add e-mail accounts for his add-on domains now. At one point, his add-ons appeared in the drop-down menu when adding accounts...they no longer appear on that list. It used to have 'addon.com' and 'addon.hisdomain.com' as an option for the add-ons. He wants to use the site URL and not the sub-domain url...however, they do not appear on his list.

I've double checked his add-ons and all add-ons are listed in the Add-on Management. The proper sub-domains also show...it is just in the e-mail management where the addon is missing.

I've upgraded our Cpanel to the latest stable (Cpanel 5.3.0-S3) and the problem is still there.

One thing I'd like to note is the clients outlook express is still set up from before the addresses dissapeared. It appears to still be checking the account during send/recieve (does not return an account doesn't exist error). However, he is not receiving any e-mail to these accounts.

Did you check in /var/cpanel/users/username to make sure that all the DNSx= entries are there? We've encountered this randomly from time to time, and restoring those entries generally resolves it.

Annette,
Thanks for the reply. You are correct...those are missing. Is there anything in particular I need to do to add these?

Meaning:

DNS20=addon1.hisdomain.com
DNS21=addon1.com
DNS22=addon2.hisdomain.com
DNS23=addon2.com

Yup...that worked perfectly. I did have to finish it off with
scripts/updateuserdomains and then /scripts/mailperm. When the accounts reappeared, they returned an error saying there was no owner to the domain. Running the two fixes corrected that...All is well ;)

Thanks again!

Well...need to re-hash this subject again. This user is now listing his accounts again in CPanel and can recieve e-mail, however, he cannot send out. When sending, he gets the username/password box that keeps failing. He says that on the accounts that didn't previously disappear, he does not have this problem....its only on the accounts that previously disappeared. He says all accounts are set up the same. Any thoughts?
