Subdomain Help [moved]

Hello,
I recently added a subdomain on my website. I was wondering, if I could hold the subdomain files somewhere else, other then the public_html root folder, such as, public_html/sub? If not, then how could i set it up like this forum, so that when you do "http://www.cpanel.net/forum" it redirects to "http://forum.cpanel.net"?
