A cPanel update was forced upon our server recently by our data centre, version 11.25.0-RELEASE. Since this has been done, when we create sub domains, the www equivalent no longer works. Previously created ones still work fine such as PET ONE - Welcome to PET ONE but the one we tried to create today COOLAROO PET BEDS - Welcome to COOLAROO PET BEDS does not.

It does still work when accessed without the www. The problem starts with our shopping cart system though, which forces a redirection to the www to ensure everyone works off that domain if they include the www or not. The resason for this is to ensure that shopping cart related cookies are always created on the same domain so people do not run into problems such as suddenly being logged out or losing purchases due to a hardcoded link somewhere.

Examination of the httpd.conf entry showed the addition of a line UseCanonicalName On to the sub domain's virtual host entry that was not on previous entries. Removing this and restarting apache made no difference. The ServerAlias www entry was there on the new one so should be working.

    Thanks for your help.
