    Hello,

I have proxy subdomain's turned off. I've created subdomains for the various cpanel services and redirect them to the proper port. For example, under redirects in cpanel, I have this:

    Code:
    webmail.example.com / https://www.example.com:2096/ permanent

In cpanel, under subdomains, I have this:
    Code:
    webmail.example.com /public_html/webmail https://www.example.com:2096/

I had these subdomains and redirects setup for all the various services, webmail, webdisk, whm, cpanel, etc. The worked just fine. Yesterday, I tried going to cpanel.example.com and noticed it wasn't working anymore. None of them are working now. I've cleared my browser cache, but every time I try going to something like http://webmail.example.com or https://webmail.example.com, I get the following error in Chrome:

    Code:
    This webpage is not available

    ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

If I click on advanced, I see this:
    Code:
The server at webmail.example.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chromefrom accessing the network.

    ...

(the ... means there's more, I'm just not typing it).

Does anyone know what might be going on and how I can fix this without having to turn proxy subdomain redirects back on? Thank you.

So I deleted all the subdomains and I've deleted all the redirects in cpanel. Under subdomains, I create a subdomain named cpanel

    Under Redirects, I set a permanent redirect. For http://(www.)? I select cpanel.example.com
For /, I leave it blank. For Redirects to, I put in https://www.example.com:2083/ I select Do not redirect www and I also have Wildcard redirect unselected. I hit okay. Then I try going to http://cpanel.example.com, same error message about the DNS stuff. I try going to example.com, same error message. I try going to Index of / and it shows me the directory listing of public_html/cpanel If I try going to example.com, it takes me to example.com. Why is this not working? And why is cPanel registering the www stuff when I specifically tell it not to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is frustrating. Thank you.

Is there away to reset the Apache config files to their default states?

    Hello :)

Could you verify if that subdomain resolves to the same IP address assigned to the account in Web Host Manager?

    Thank you.

I can verify. Could you please tell me how? I setup the subdomains in cPanel and point them to my domain. I think I might have discovered the problem. Some of the subdomains appear to work when I go to the http version, not the https.

If the Let's Encrypt plugin gets released soon, I can just re-enable proxy subdomain redirects and not have to worry about this. Thank you for your help.

Could you open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look? You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome.

    Thank you.
