    Hi all,
I'm just wondering if I'm missing something or if someone has come up with a better way for creating subdomains with SSL.

First off..this is without a wildcard certificate and is simply for secure.domain.com. Currently, the subdomain is added and then within WHM the A record for the subdomain is given a unique ip and then the httpd.conf is edited to mimic the ip on the subdomain. The .csr is generated, signed, and then installed and this is where the <If Define SSL> in the httpd.conf points the document root to /home/account/public_html instead of /home/account/public_html/secure. I'm at a bit of a loss as to why this occurs and wonder if it's 'normal' behavior.....I can edit it to point to the secure directory for document root no problem but am wondering if I'm making things more complicated than they have to be.

I do know that we can simply make a new account within WHM as secure.domain.com and it will work all fine but this can be somewhat of a pain for developing a site that way.

Anyway, am I doing something funky and missing something or is this the way it has to be? Can resellers add an ssl cert to a subdomain(with the understanding that the subdomain has to have a unique ip)without contacting me?

    thanks,
    Steve
