i want to create a subdomain with a separate ftp account, is that possible? Does it need to have the same ip address?

404 error on subdomain

This works
http://www.anhosting.com/cartmanual/

But this
http://cartmanual.anhosting.com
does not

cartmanual is a listed subdomain

Go to Cpanel, click on FTP manager and create an FTP account with username cartmanual. Then when this user connects via FTP, he will be restricted to the cartmanual directory.
