There's a thread open on similar issues, but couldn't get a response there, so I'm starting a new post to see if anyone has any idea for a sudden problem I'm experiencing, so far on just one server.

The issue is this: Suddenly, about a week ago, mailboxes for addon domains stopped working. You can't log into them via /webmail, you can't receive mail on them, etc. (They are properly resolving, and the sites are working).

For example, we have a customer on this server with a site named bibleteachinginc.org. Mail for that domain works fine. There is an addon domain, canyonviewequestriancollege.org, on that site, and mail services have been working fine for a long time, until about a week ago.

One of the mailboxes, collegeinfo at canyonviewequestriancolloege.org, cannot access /webmail now, and mail sent to that address is forwarded to webmaster at bibleteachinginc.org, following the default address set up for the addon domain.

I have taken the following steps to try to figure it out:

1. I deleted and recreated the collegeinfo at canyonviewequestriancollege.org mailbox. No change. (I removed the default address too, to see what would happen, and then mail to collegeinfo at canyonviewequestriancollege.org started bouncing).

2. I removed entirely the /etc/vmail directory and rebuilt it with /scripts/updateuserdomains. No change.

3. I reset the exim configuration to default with /scripts/reseteximtodefaults. No change.

4. I forcibly updated exim with /scripts/eximup --force. No change.

5. I followed CPanel's recommendation to convert to maildir, figuring changing the mail handling format may clear up the problem. I ran /scripts/convert2maildir. No change.

This CPanel bug report seems to indicate there are others with similar problems:

http://bugzilla.cpanel.net/show_bug.cgi?id=3247

Also, this CPanel forum thread indicates similar problems:

http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=44497

Is anyone else having this problem, or have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

I also seem to have fallen victim to something of this sort with 1 particular addon domain...although I think it had something to do with user fault, and not cpanel.

after some tinkering, mail has returned to the addon domain in question.

but, I am missing the option to locate the addon domain in cpanel through mail menus.
so basically, that domain is missing from the list of domains in the mail add/view option boxes.

does anyone know which file populates these boxes?

This thread is years old and any problems referenced in it have already been resolved. It is very likely what you are seeing is something else entirely.
