I am creating a symlink for a clients /www directory. I am using this command:

    cd /home/userid
    ln -s ./public_html www

This works find and shows up with ls -al. After a day or two, the client calls back and compains that his /www directory is missing again. I check and it is gone. For some reason the symlink is being removed. Does anyone have an idea ?

    Thanks much,

If your client use MS FrontPage to publish their Web site, then they need to change the settings, so FrontPage won't compare local files with those on the server. If not configured properly, FrontPage, when publishing, will delete any files/directories that don't match those on the user's computer.

    Hope this helps!

No Front Page is in use. They do however use a site builder tool that we provide. I suspected it as the directory seems to vanish after they publish their web site. The only thing is that we have 100 or so other clients that have no problems.

The message log file does not show anything out of the ordinary.
