Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@secondaccountdomain.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The 2nd account probably doesn't have permission to read the 1st accounts files.

Our .com and .ca sites share a lot of the same files and I gave those shared files owner of one and group of the other with full owner and group permissions.

so if i understand this correctly.

    lets say i have user1 and user2

shared files reside under user1's cpanel

now i create a group in ssh called "share".

i add user1 and user2 to group "share".

now i chown user1:share "target files"

    all should be well??

also another thing is our server admins do have phpsuexec installed and running.

    phpsuexec or suexec ?

do you have suexec enabled ?

if so - you may need to disable for those specific accounts.

    php open_basedir

PHPsuexec forces all PHP scripts to run as the user who owns the script. This means that you will be able to identify the owner of all PHP scripts running on your server. If one is malicious, you will be able to find it's owner quickly and resolve the issue.

Look into PHP's open_basedir protection. This protection will prevent users from open files outside of their home directory with PHP.

The main thing here most likely is suexec ...

    http://YOURSERVERIPHERE:2086/scripts2/tweaksecurity

In this option you will find the Php open_basedir Tweak

Php's open_basedir protection prevents users from opening files outside of their home directory with php. My suggestion is make sure this is enabled on the server - except for those you need to share files against.

    Kind Regards

    :)

Ours is set up with all files being shared given owner of one user and group of the other user, then all folders and scripts are 770 and normal files are 660. In other words, we give group same permissions as owner.
