    The situation:

ns1.mydomain.com (is a non cpanel server)

    ns2.mydomain.com (= CPanel server)

How could I automatically synchonize DNS zones between these servers?

    Kris.

Kris, not a good idea, I would do it the other way around.
    The reason:
cpanel/whm does a lot of changes to the zone file and these changes would otherwise be lost if it does not have access to the primary dns server.
So set up primary in whm and then have a secondary somewhere else and make sure that secondary is in the zonefile otherwise it will not get notify messages of updates.

What we end up doing is having three main nameservers. Our cpanel server acts as a fourth, and on creation of zones, connects to the others and adds a slave with our cpanel server as the master for that zone.

That way our customers can continue to use our regular three nameservers, and any changes to the zone that cpanel makes, the other three pick up from being slave to it.

    Make sense?

It required a perl script to be written and changes to be made on add/del of zones.
