    I have noticed just recently that on a shared ip just entering the IP address by itself brings up the first site alphabetically on that IP

    how do i stop this?

    I have open_base and mod_userdir restrictions applied

    also http://IP/~username/ doesnt work anymore but http://servername/~username/ does

    anyone got any ideas?

    Try adding a VirtualHost entry for your Shared IP in Apache Configuration file ie. httpd.conf.
    <VirtualHost xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>
    BytesLog domlogs/<hostname>-bytes_log
    ServerName <hostname>
    DocumentRoot /usr/local/apache/htdocs
    </VirtualHost>

    where,
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your Shared IP.
    <hostname. is the hostname of your server.

    You can add the above lines after the NameVirtualHost entry for your server IP.

    Give it a try.

    Also make sure you add that BEFORE the first VirtualHost entry using that IP.

    When someone goes to an IP address, they get the first entry in the httpd.conf file using that IP.

    You probably changed the common shared ip around? If curious that may have what moved things around. Doing this will mess up the "suspended page" and what not.
