I'm experiencing a strange issue which is seemingly random. Every so often, my server goes deaf - cpanel and whm do not respond, websites will display the generic "It Worked" apache page, login over ssh returns with a bad password disallowing login and even the ssh key is changed! The deafness lasts for about 10 minutes or so then magically it all returns. Uptime on the server shows no reboots. It's as if a cron job is running some sort of task, shutting down services and then restarting them.

The messages and cron logs are not showing anything out of the norm really and I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it. Anybody ever experience this?

    I'm running cpanel 10.0.0 R7 on RHE v3.

    Thanks.

    Go on, have a guess
To me, that almost perfectly describes a misconfigured router at your server location which is redirecting traffic to a different server. Especially the apache "It worked" page which you will not see on a cPanel server.
