Hi. This issue is a bit over my head, so any help is appreciated.

We have a site on a dedicated IP, let's call it my_ssl_site.com

We have a TEST version of the site to test new code before rolling over at test.my_ssl_site.com, which is a different folder in the same hosting account

The problem is, we are trying to test some new payment gateway code. When test.my_ssl_site.com switches to SSL, Apache redirects requests (or something) to my_ssl_site.com because it is the site with the SSL certificate installed. This causes problems for many reasons - the session is lost, the wrong scripts are called etc.

Both sites (test.my_ssl_site.com and my_ssl_site.com) are running from the same hosting account, so if there is a way to have a unique IP going to each one I don't know it, or if this would even solve the problem. I would rather solve the problem without introducing a new IP.

I just want it so that when I access http://test.my_ssl_site.com I am accessing the same space as when I access https://test.my_ssl_site.com. Currently the latter is taking me to the directory of http://my_ssl_site.com.

    Did that make any sense?

After digging into apache a bunch, I figured out that to accomplish what I needed, I could change the DocumentRoot in the VirtualHost/SSL section of my httpd.conf file. It works for now, but only problem is now the main domain is redirected to the test domain when switching to SSL. This isn't a problem for what I am doing, but would be nice to have a solution that lets both work.
