i have a client with an exchange server. they are having email problems and i need to test if their settings on the server are correct without having to send an engineer out not knowing what the problem is, by settin the account up on my outlook. i need to do this in such a way that i do not pull down their email in outlook. what is the best way to set this account up especially wen it comes to the mail servers - outgoing and incoming. do i set it up as exchage, or as a pop3 with the exact details of the catchall. will the pop3 situation work in testing the server setting or will it bypass it, seeing as it is a pop account any emails sent will not be in the catchall.

please help........................................

The method for setting up a smart router to act as an SMTP feed for an MS exchange server is discussed in: http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=18201

You might want to follow the instructions to set up a proper SMTP feed.

However, if the client is merely collecting all mail from a single POP mailbox, you might just want to check the relevant mailbox using webmail.
