    Hi, i have a server with a HUGE and intensive apache processing:

    Apache2 + php5 compiled only with the basics modules.
    Which is the best configuration for the Apache in this server ?

    <IfModule prefork.c>
    StartServer 50
    MinSpareServer 50
    MaxSpareServer 100
    MaxClients 512
    MaxRequestsPerChild 64
    </IfModule>

    <IfModule worker.c>
    StartServers 80
    MaxClients 800
    MinSpareThreads 100
    MaxSpareThreads 200
    ThreadsPerChild 100
    MaxRequestsPerChild 64
    </IfModule>

    This configuration seems strange to me.

    the apache load is very, very higth

    Which of those MPMs is actually installed? Apache will only build and use a single MPM. /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -l will display a list of compiled modules. Whichever of worker or prefork is listed is the one you need to focus on.
