    Hi,

Right now i am using RH 7.3 and cPanel 7.4.2 Stable 82.

I was told by my friend that works for datacenter about the best RedHat version for cPanel.

He told me to use RH 8 than RH 7.3

    Is it true ??

And this is dump question maybe :D

How to upgrade RH 7.3 to RH 8 with save ?

Any help on above will be appreciated ;)

I've found RH 8 to have alot of bugs (in RH, not cPanel). RH9 originally had some issues with cPanel, but they've all been resolved. If you are to upgrade, do it to RH9. RH isn't going to be updating 7.3 or 8 after December 31st, only 9. I've heard that cPanel is going to be issuing the updates so that the server is still secure, but it won't be kernels - so your server will be vulnerable.

You can do the upgrade via SSH (go to RH's website and look for instructions), but it's very risky. The SSH session can be terminated, and you'll be locked out of the box because it'll be waiting for you to answer a prompt. Have someone locally upgrade the OS, such as your datacenter. They usually don't charge too much (I know DedicatedNow is charging a flat rate of $75 for it)..

No, all of the RH versions work equally well with cPanel. I'd recommend getting 9.0 since 7.3 won't be updated after 12-31-03.

Wait until dec 2003 or now ?

Maybe if anybody using cPnael and have RH 9 installed may give me opinion about this will be appreciated:D

I think MySundown give me best opinion but if any other opinion about RH9 and cPanel will help more people to decide wheter upgrade or not

    Thanks MySundown ;)

Yes, but you don't have to use RH kernels. You can compile the kernels from source also, which should solve that "problem"
